Below Palouse Falls - Canyon Waterfall in Southeastern Washington -- Original Oil Painting
Oil on Panel 12.75 x 22.75 Sold
Palouse Falls in Southeastern Washington is a unique waterfall in a unique landscape. In the midst of a region that is almost a desert, the waterfall at Palouse Falls is a roaring wash of water, falling to the pools below. The sheer sides of the canyon cliffs create a palette of colors ranging from the reds we expect in the American Southwest, to the softer beiges, tans, and corals. It's definitely not a landscape one expects to encounter in the middle of agri-business and what, in earlier days, would have been called farm country.
A state park, Palouse Falls is literally out of the way, and to get there, one must traverse a bumpy, rustic road for two miles. Even upon reaching the park one wonders what all the fuss is about, but on getting out of the car, one can hear the water roar. A short walk takes the visitor to the panoramic vista of a landscape that is timeless, beautiful, and majestic. Though Eastern Washington looks nothing like what it did 150 years ago, Palouse Falls remains essentially the same.
It is comforting to see nature's majesty untouched, unsullied, undeveloped.
Below Palouse Falls, the original oil painting, is sold. It is available as a print at this link at Steve Henderson Collections. Palouse Falls is also available as an image on products you use everyday, from coffee mugs and phone cases to shower curtains and throw pillows at Steve Henderson Collections.
