Understanding Creatives
Creativity is an elusive, almost mysterious thing -- something that everyone wants to possess, in that they want to be a notable musician, or a writer of inspiring prose or a painter -- like Steve -- who captures light and shadow, feeling and form. These are people who take creativity to its highest heights, and frankly, such creativity is overlooked and undervalued in these days of trying to pull out of people whatever we can, so that some corporation, somewhere, can make money off of their talent. Creativity was meant to enhance the soul of man. It is best done when that soul is taken into account.
All people, in some way or another, are creative, because we are creative beings. When we lose this creativity -- by spending hours in front of the TV screen or phone -- or when, like many successful financial magnates and businesspersons, we pursue the making of money at the expense of living our lives -- we lose something more precious than any stock, bond, or bitcoin.
It is vital that we, as humans, maintain and nurture creativity, both in ourselves and in those around us. Like a flower, creativity is fragile but tough, and demanding that it exist in the wrong conditions is as bad as not appreciating it at all.
